The Women Who Saved Birds
Ohio Wildlife Center staff and volunteers rescue and rehabilitate thousands of birds each year. We have intensive firsthand experience with the threats faced by wild birds in their Ohio habitats. More than 100 years ago, Americans came together to march, protest and organize boycotts against another threat – the fashion craze of feather hats, which nearly drove several species of birds to extinction. This is the story of how people fought and won passage of the International Migratory Bird Treaty Act – one of the oldest and most important wildlife protection laws on the books.
Learn how the power of coming together can leave everlasting change.
