Rooted in her own story of resilience and reinvention, Janice’s journey began with a simple dream: to own a home. Raised in a family that always rented, she bought her first house after college and later sold it for double its value. That experience became more than a financial win — it ignited her purpose to help others create their own version of success, especially through the power of ownership and connection.
She’s Simply Connected was born from that same mission — to bring women together not just to network, but to build meaningful relationships, exchange ideas, and uplift one another in both life and business. I’m Julie, the Owner, Founder and Primary Childcare Provider of It Takes A Village Childcare. I started out in-home childcare after being burnt out, overwhelmed, and just not having enough time with my own Little Loves while waving a career in Occupational Safety. I have a Master’s Degree in Safety, Security & Emergency Management. I was a volunteer firefighter for 7 years, and have been dedicated to assisting others in emergencies and with safety all my life.
I love meeting new friends, and love empowering other women and mommas. It’s a much different world than I imagined raising my children in, and we’ve got to help each other out wherever we can :)

I'm a horticulturalist at Kingwood Center Gardens, where I get to play in the dirt professionally - planting, nurturing, and occasionally talking to plants (they're great listeners). For the past three years, I've been helping others grow their green thumbs by selling plants and sharing gardening know-how. I have a particular love for the serenity and design of Japanese and Chinese gardens- where art, nature, and architecture mingle in perfect harmony (and moss is always welcome). When I'm not tending to the flora, I'm soaking up time with my family and passing on a love of nature to my daughter- one muddy footprint at a time.

Richland County EMA works with community partners to coordinate resources in the event of a disaster natural or man made. We support first responders during incidents and help prepare and educate the community on severe weather and disasters.
